Who would be the boss today?

Tony is dead. We don't know if Silvio survived the shooting. Would it be Patsy? Let's speculate.

Ally Boy Barese

Patrick Parisi. He'll be pulled into the Family 'business" when he learns civil rights law is not for him. Meadow will be the new Carmela.

reply

*beep* if Tony died, and Sil survived, he's be boss and Paulie would be his underboss.

And if Sil didn't survive, Paulie would be boss, GOD HELP US ALL LOL

Bear in mind, I'm just going by seniority by speculating.

reply

That's a good question. I believe Silvio would have died, and I don't think Paulie would have lasted very long as boss. My bet is on Patsy Parisi or Ally Boy Barese.

reply

+1 for Ally Boy. Patsy was a follower, not a leader.

Since I think that Butch followed through on Phil Leotardo's plan to "decapitate and negotiate with who's left" -- which also called for Phil's NYC family taking over the New Jersey operations --- I think that's what happened. Neither Sil (even if alive), Patsy, Paulie, or even Ally Boy would have the muscle to fight back against an NYC takeover, and they'd probably be promised new jobs with NYC. (Though Sil might be executed for loyally strangling someone who brought him that offer originally.)

Recall that Paulie was, at one time, inclined to join with Carmine Sr. and Johnny Sack on the NYC team. He could be bought off again.

I think Butchie would have ended up in the trunk of a car somewhere on the side of the Belt Parkway. He okayed a hit on his own boss and it went bad. I think the other NY families would have backed Carmine Jr.

An interesting side thought, that. In certain ways, the war that started with the release of the 5 from prison triggered a lot of upset in both NYC and Jersey. Various people got killed who never needed to get killed. And recall the internal NYC war that brought Phil to power AFTER the NYC war that Carmine Jr. quit.

Bad blood would have to be washed out. Kill Tony. Kill Butchie. Start all over.

Artie Bucco.

Artie’s wife.

reply

Lol yep, much more likely.

reply

Dr. Elliot Kuftenberg, who was always facinated by Mob gossip.

reply

Ally Boy probably. Paulie wouldn't have taken it, he was happy with his place and wasn't power hungry or ambitious. He knew his role was best served as muscle. He even turns down the most lucrative racket of the Captains in the final episode through lack of ambition and a fear of being cursed.

Whatever happened, the Family was in ruins. As the series progresses it shows how the world of the Mob is growing smaller and smaller. Parisi being told by the manager at that chain of fast food stores that threats for protection money wouldn't phase the "Corporation", the fact that by season 6 they're dealing in truckloads of vitamins and power drills. Hardly the big time. Tony always complained he "came in at the end of the good times" and he was right.
