If anyone out there knows if or when this movie will be released to DVD or VHS. Or if it has where can you buy it? My father has been looking everywhere and would like to get it for him.

I tracked it down a couple years ago on ebay. It was a swedish dvd but if you turn subtitles off it's normal.

Underrated film, very good indeed.

Not just a very good film an excellent film, and as you say grossly underated, perhaps one day it will get its justice.

It is a moving masterpiece, and what a cast!

I've only found it myself once on ebay, a swiss copy and it was only the disc that was on offer. Id love to get a hold of this movie and check amazon and ebay often, but keep coming up with nothing!

I just saw it on the Encore Drama Channel. It is scheduled to play again on July 25th.

If you look on EBAY, there are plenty of German and French versions, but as far as i know they do not contaion english language soundtracks or subtitles, there is a polish version (with english soundtrack) around on EBAY, but does come with a box, so maybe a pirate copy.

It was been released on DVD almost clandestinely in France, which is a shame if you ask me (casting, story, film quality) :

- no original version, it's a D V D for *beep* sake ! (luckily, the French dubbed version is OK),
- PAN & SCAN !!! More than a shame, because the FIRST 30 SECONDS ARE FULL FORMAT then the image turns suddently on pan & scan.
