Did this movie get a theatrical release?

I remember seeing ads for it and whatnot, and even an Entertainment Tonight (or some entertainment 'news' show) segment about the movie, but I don't think I ever saw it in any theatres near me. It doesn't have the '(V)' beside the name here on IMDB, but they have been wrong many times before (look at the credits for Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children and Legend of Zelda: The Twilight Princess if you don't believe me). If it wasn't straight-to-video, then was it just a limited release?
I can really only see a small group of people liking this movie (I'm one of those people. Not a masterpiece, but a good reflection of the 'nerd' lifestyle. American Splendor does a better job dramatically, but this movie sort of makes it more fun, because nerds are fun, not depressed), so I imagine it would only have been limited.
Anywho, it's just a personal wonder of mine.

Simon,

To answer your question, yes, "Free Enterprise" was theatrically released in LA, Chicago and New York on June 4th, 1999. It played in limited release throughout the country during that summer.

Unfortunately, the box-office wasn't reported.

The film garnered some good reviews in most local papers however, which was pretty cool.

Hope this answers your question.

Best regards,

RMB
