This would be the perfect geek movie, except. . .

. . .except that any girl, no matter HOW hot, would get choked Vader-style for defacing the cover of a $60 back issue of Uncanny X-Men. Even if it was her phone number. I know, I know. It's just a movie. But I refuse to accept a comic fan just LETTING someone do that in front of them.

I mean, come on. She couldn't write her number on the cardboard backboard? Or the mylar sleeve? Did it HAVE to be the COVER?

Savages, the lot of them.

Otherwise, it's an awesome film. But I always have to fast forward through that bit, to keep from screaming at the screen.

She did it very specifically and intentionally, to see if this random guy - who she was obviously intrigued by - would consider her "worth" the sixty dollars it would cost to acquire her phone number. I actually thought it was a pretty cool moment, very original, and a great way to show another example of Robert's self-indulgence compromising his relationship with Mark.

Bah, that issue wasn't great anyway (at a time when nearly all the Uncanny X-Men issues were fantastic) except that it was the first appearance of Gambit, and if a woman as fine as Claire wanted to write her number on it for YOU would you really stop her? I bet you'd hand her the pen! Heck bud I'd give you my unspoiled copy so you could.
