2nd Brazilian Top 250 Movie!

Central do Brasil, probally the best brazilian movie ever (nominated for two Oscars), certainly deserves this position (#249) in IMDb ranking. Cidade de Deus (City of God) today is #15 (four Oscar nominations) and both of them has Portughese as original language. Directors like Walter Salles, Carla Camuratti and Fernando Meirelles prove the high quality of recent productions in our country. Or not?

Definately both great movies....but Brazil is not exactly shown in a good light. Ironically both movies seems to show Brazil as a crime ridden ghetto where children are treated like stray dogs. I know it's only a movie, but is Brazil really like that? Are there really that many homeless street children? Is this problem exaggerated or is this a real problem?

Brazil is really coming into its own as a cinematic nation, with these brilliant movies by both Fernando Meirelles and Walter Salles. Bravo.

"Tropa de elite" (Elite Squad) Joined the club of the top 250 for a couple of weeks. It still has a very high ranking and if this movie gets more votes it will bounce back to the top 250.

"Central do Brasil" simply needs more votes from "regular voters" (whatever that means) to bounce back.

Currently "Cidade de Deus" (city of God) is the only brazilian movie in the Top 250.
