Why Did The Thief Get Shot?

Have you been wondering why the thief got shot in the central station? Is it lelal in Brazil? I don't think that one should die just because he stole some small stuff. And did he got shot by the police or man of the station?

reply

He wasn't police I think, although it's common to police men get extra jobs since they don't get too much of an incoming...
It isn't legal killing, there's no death sentence, but there are many places were the law is kind of distant... and if there's a reach, it's slow and takes in consideration "who" you are, sometimes...

Thank you for telling me this! I really appreciate it!

It was done to show the danger Josue was in. If he stole for survival, he would have been killed. the shooting taught Dora that she had to do something to help him

This is what you call vigilante justice. The guy who shot him was evidently the person takes care of security at the train station, something like a mafioso. He was a crook - remember, he was behind the selling Josue for his organs. So the basic idea is that Brasil has lots of crime, and apparently lots of people who take the law into their own hands. I have heard also of the problems of orphans or homeless youths being killed.
