Problem with this DVD?

Has anybody else been having problems playing DVD of Central do Brasil?

I got one copy out of the library and a different copy from NetFlix, and both have the same problem: NO MOVIE! Only the special features are there. When I select "Play Movie", I get the director's commentary, all the way through to the end of the movie, and nothing else. When I select the director's commentary from the special features menu, I get, guess what? The director's commentary. I can't get the actual movie.

Anyone else have this problem?

I had this problem, too. If you have a DVD player that has an "audio" button on the remote, allowing you to select the language track, use it. There are two language tracks: the film audio, which is in Portuguese and the commentary, which is in English. This is apparently a flaw in the DVD mastering. Unfortunately, there is no language selection in the DVD menu.

This is several years too late, but I just rented the DVD and had the same problem. However, if you select Director's Commentary under the special features it will take you to a screen that allows you to select either commentary on or commentary off. Kind of convoluted, but at least it works.

I just bought this movie at Biglots. I had the same problem. Right off the bat all I heard was commentary. like a prior poster said I had to go to audio a press a button there. then it finally started giving me the movie. i was relieved that at least there are ways to get back to the actual movie.
