I love the actors broken english in this!

Everybody in this film besides kais trainer at the end, the main thug,(not chonglee and ryus girlfreind(shes hot) speak in horrible english, which makes it wayy funnier to me. One of my favorite lines from this movie is after kai sees ryu take out his pupil and his gang....."where did u learn do them move?"

Er Hong kong film, they'd be even worse at Japanese than English

actually I regret my mistake, it is Japanese/Hong Kong so the exact definition is hard

But two of the leads (Simon Yam, and Bolo Yeung) are Hong Kongers and alot of the actors other than Sensei Kai are American. So Japanese as a whole language would cause a similiar mash up

actually with the sheer variety of actors in this any single language will be trouble

Actually the cast is all international

Yasuaki Kurata (Kai) - Japanese
Simon Yam (Ryu) and Bolo Yeung (Chong Lee) - Hong Kong
Cristina Lawson (Ryu's girlfriend) - Filipino/American (She was also in Best of the Best 3 as Tommy Lee's sister)
John Ladalski (John the trainer) - American
Stuart Smith (the thug) - Australian who appeared in the Ninja movies "Cobra vs. Ninja" and "Ninja in Action" in Hong Kong during that period.

The crew was mainly Japanese and Hong Kong, but since Kurata himself financed the film, it can be considered more Japanese.

Their English isn't that good because English is their second language and they probably haven't been speaking it all their life, so let's say we put you in Japanese or Chinese movie and give you a Japanese or Chinese speaking part and see how well you do.
I'm really defending this movie since I haven't actually seen it, but it looks like a b-movie made by the Japanese since martial arts movie great Kurata is the producer of it and was made for the American direct to video market at the time, soexpecting it to Lawrence Of Arabia is probably unwarranted.
