Why I Love This Film **SPOILERS**

**Please do not read if you haven't seen the fim as this contains spoilers**

Man, I love Christmas In August so much - in my eyes its pretty much perfect. Everything from the wonderful acting by the leads (Han Suk-Kyu in particular is marvellous at conveying the subtleties of Jung-Won); the superbly and cleverly written storyline (there are no scenes or lines that are out of place); the way the pace, the quiet and the simplicity of the film perfectly reflects the lives of the characters; the things that are left to our imagination... I could go on and on.

It manages to be, at times, both humorous, heartwarming and heartbreaking - all in the same instance. The way that the film is portrayed feels so real that you forget you aren't actually a part of it and are merely just observing - thats where I think this film can really be at its most rewarding. In those times where the film is genuinely heartwarming, such as when Darim and Jung-Won steal little pieces of time together - I'm not sure I can totally describe it - but it just makes me feel so comfortable and relaxed, that I have to applaud the people who were involved in making this and getting it just right. (Maybe someone else who's with me on this can describe it better?) The fact that the two characters have such a real bond with eachother without ever hugging or kissing, that is so believable, is a testament to all involved.

I'm not ashamed to admit, that as a 25 year old man who enjoys martial arts and gangster films like 'A Bittersweet Life' and 'A Dirty Carnival', I cried like a little baby towards the end when I watched it again last night. And its not like I didn't know what was going to happen - but it still got to me!

Such a feeling is not something that happens that often (to me at anyway) so I simply felt compelled to write about it.

A classic, which should never be attempted to be remade (again, at least)
