Tha Panel v The Glasshouse: Which one is best?

I used to watch The Panel-I think it started on the ABC so better as ad-free. Basically I tuned out as only like to hear what Glen Quartermaine (Sport) had to say, and sometimes Glen Robbins.

In the end it was unfunny & they focused on the high profile guests & forgot about the humour. They were bored , it became a vehicle for a group of money hungry, control-freaks , to make more money and more control.

The Glasshouse

On the otherhand The Glasshouse is refreshing and for the most part funny, though some of jokes a bit 'sick' (as in very bad taste), and I can't stand Dave Hughes and some so called American comedian.

If the Glasshouse was an hour show & if dave Hughes was relegated to the interchange bench (for most of the program) then it could be a good show.

Will Anderson lacks the class of someone like Paul McDermott and Shaun Micallef to be a great host, but he at least has a sense of humour which is more than you can say for most of The Panel team (ironic they were set up to be funny-actually they are not).

Thanks my say-what's yours?

PS A plea to Channel 10-Do not have The Panel back on air.
Please bring back a sitcom-like Married with Children, or have a Christmas pecial of a past sitcom, but not The Panel. They just want to fish (Santo or Tom); write plaguerise books (Moldovia or the one about the Ashes Tourist). They cannot even think up anything original-everything is copied, with their contrived 'spin'.

The Panel was never on the ABC. You are getting it mixed up with Good News Week.

I disagree with you totally about the Panel. For mine the sport guy was the most annoying. He knew nothing except for AFL. The best part was the stupid shirts he use to wear and how offended he use to get when they said he should be on a Marti Gra float.

Cant really comment on the Glass House because ive only seen one episode, which i quite liked. Dave Hughes has never been funny.

Wil Anderson is a complete tri-hard. He's a nail poish wearing embarressment to Australia with pitiful humour and teenage hair. Get him off the glass house!!!!

I agree with everything in ^^ post except for the bit about Corinne. She isn't the funniest person but she has some moments so I wouldn't say she is 'wrong'.

lets face it, for both these shows the the worst person on it is the token woman. kate langbroek and corrine grant are perhaps the two most annoying women on tv.

I really liked the older episodes of The Panel but admittedly it has grown a bit stale. However, The Glasshouse started wearing thin for me after about one episode. Sometimes it looks like they're not even trying to be funny, particularly Dave Hughes, who I used to really like once.

I find The Panel to be more amusing. Less filler material, and the ball keeps on rolling throughout the whole show. Their take on current affairs is less comedic than The Glasshouse, but for some reason it still makes me laugh more. I think being an hour-long show (with ads) compared to The Glasshouse (which is a half-hour show without ads) might have something to do with my feeling towards this, because Will Anderson and company seem to rush through each segment at blistering pace without having a complete dissection of the article in question. Yet the people on The Panel take more time on each subject, talk about the real issues and still manage to crack a good joke or two along the way.

By the way, I think Dave Hughes is really funny, but Glenn Robbins takes the cake with offcolour Aussie humour.

As much as i enjoy the glass house
I am a newcomer to it
but have been watching the panel since it started
I'm sad that the panel is gone at the moment
i don't think i would care that much about the glass house

I'm not saying the Glasshouse is bad but I do think the Panel was The Glasshouse for grownups.

I think both shows are great.
the glass house is for us teenagers i guess with those jokes.
but the panel is a great australian show.
i hope they bring the panel back becasue it's consistantly funny.
The glasshouse i remember went through a non funny stage and there starting to recover now.

but anyway i hope both shows last for ages to come.

I love them both, but the Glasshouse is just sex jokes pretty much.

^ HAHA agree! Pretty much created from sexual humour, but it's funny. I enjoy both shows, but I'd say The Panel is my favourite because I like their celeb interviews better.

It's a Geoffrey Rush thing, you wouldn't understand!

Production of the program "The Glasshouse" has been stopped. There was some public haranguing by the host Wil Anderson whos was naturally very upset. I watched it a few times. I always felt the people involved were not funny enough to carry such a bare-bones concept through 30 minutes uninterrupted. What used to surprise me is how many oldies loved it, even though the humour was primarily undergraduate - i.e. jokes about John Howard, the Bush clan and public utilities like Telstra.
