Was that it?

Is there any more to this show than just those 6 episodes? It just sort of ended, and no real conclusion to it. Was there another season to this?

I didn't count the episodes, but the one where the alien eating machine regenerates after being nuked, and they say that the only way to defeat the aliens is to nuke half of the planet in order to starve them out, was the last episode.

I haven't seen the last ever episode and for years couldn't remember the name of it - someone just reminded me. Gonna see if I can get the DVD simply to watch the last episode lol.

Amazon do the complete box set in R1 for under $30.

It's being re-shown on SCI FI here in the UK, starting tonight (in 10 mins actually...)

Marsodyssey2010, I have recently rewatched the double pack videos of this series(hey if it aint broke....) [spoiler] when they fail using conventional rockets then they resort to nuclear, but its not half the planet but 50 mile radius with the town/alien machine at the centre. in order as youve stated to starve them out[spoiler] as a series it still holds up in 2011, with some of the issues reuseable now including the idea of an alien race using biology to "invade", (chemically castrating the male of the species), using human hybrids to "farm" us, and then using those same humans to fuel their machine! Each of these ideas added to contemporary environmental/farming issues could probally sustain a series on there own.

Episode 6 was the conclusion, the Echoes gave up but we won't we either win at any cost or die trying. It's a statement about what it is to be human, to not give in no matter what.

reply

the ending was left open, but the TV series what not successful in the UK, and no further series was made.

reply

I thought the ending suitably conclusive, despite being, um, inconclusive.

The idea that the only way we can win is by rendering vast areas of the Earth inedible for aliens, quite original.

It has been a long time since I last posted, and still no sequel. What a shame, because I thought this mini-series was excellent. And considering the extremely POOR content the Sci-Fi channel has made since, we sorely NEED a good sequel to this.

I swear, some of the newer movies that Sci-Fi have made, ugh! Poor acting, extremly poor special effects, bad story lines, just total and utter rubbish!

Now here is a thought :) Perhaps for the sequel, then find Quartermass, and he saves the day?

If you ever listen to the Quatermass radio series, he ties it all together. It's a prequel to the Conclusion.

I sat thru six hours of this and then boom.

Well at least it had a conclusion to their story.

In a book I read called America 2040 the Russian president meets face to face with the USA president and he says, " you Americans are fond of a saying,,,, Better dead than Red!, am I right mr president?"

The USA president sips his tea and says with a fun smile, " yes we often say this. Mr. President"

The Russian president says, " mr. President , now is the time. Pick one!"

American president says huh
Russian president says, " Pick one. Either you choose communism and we rule the planet or we blow the planet up. Now you pick one."

Well than six books ensue from there.
