Am I the only one that is blown away that this came out in 1998?

Am I the only one that is blown away that this came out in 1998?
It's a pretty high concept/high production mini series. Okay, decent enough production. It is pretty consistent and good until you hit those video toaster CG graphics. Blecchh!
Still when I am watching this, it does not stick out as '90s TV the same way X files or Deep Space 9 do.
I suppose part of that is that BBC does have some capable and experienced people. They just don't put them to work on all their productions I guess?

had to look that up. Are you British?

I actually thoroughly enjoyed this miniseries. Production values are pretty good for 90's sci-fi. Maybe it's the bland American in me, but I thought the plot devices were pretty innovative. The higher-dimensionality concept is not even introduced until an episode or two after we see the affects of a that 'dimensionalness'. In a way this makes it harder to follow, but it also made it more interesting to me.
Like when they showed the 1 dimensional trace plot with the very 2 dimensional interference pattern. I thought that was rubbish, er, pants?
But the following episode made sense of that.
The ending was kind of corny, and some of the acting was, how do you say, porcine?
But overall I found this to be a pretty good sci fi considering it came from the same country that gave us Jupiter Moon and Red Dwarf.
