Where to next?

Where to next?

It has just occurred to me that this is the second consecutive show we've watched which ended with the world being nuked, except this time it'll be bit by bit. Maybe next we choose a show about ponies and rainbows.

It's time for us to suggest new shows. Before I give the customary information, I have a couple requests to the group.

1) PLEASE, PLEASE, PRETTY PLEASE PROVIDE LINKS FOR THE IMDB PAGE OF YOUR SUGGESTED. Otherwise I'll have to do it myself for each of your suggestions. And sometimes I don't find it or am not sure which show you're referring to.

2) Please don't copy and paste the url of the page. Instead, make the show title clickable. In case you haven't figured that out yet, all you have to do it write [] plus "link=" plus show code inside. For instance, for Invasion: Earth, it's (link=tt0140743), except it's with brackets "[]" instead of parentheses "()". By doing so you make sure the SHOW'S TITLE LOOKS DIFFERENT. Last time going through all the posts I missed a couple of shows among all the posts and I don't want that to happen again.

3) If you do that, THANKS A LOT!

Just as promised when we elected Invasion: Earth, the other shows that were voted but lost would be remembered in case you want to give them another shot this time. The other shows that were best voted were, in this order,

2) Defying Gravity (2009)
3) Strange (2003)
4) Persons Unknown (2010)
5) The Dresden Files (2007)
6) Rubicon (2010)
7) FlashForward (2009)

Suggestions to enter the voting process are limited to two, and my suggestion is pick two shows you feel excited about so your chances of us choosing a show you like will be improved.

Suggestions are open and will close on Sunday, August 31st evening. Voting will take place from Monday September 1st to Thursday September 4th. The winner will be announced Friday 5th and then one week later, on Friday, September 12th, 2014, we will start.

We ask once something is finally chosen do your best to go with it even if it isn't entirely your cup of tea (or none at all!), or your dark piece of sky, or feel it's no better than a cheap monkey statue made of second-rate metal, try to do like an nD and imagine yourself in another dimension until that particular show is over. But anyway, it's only one season and we have always been able to come to a consensus.

That's it. We have always managed to find something good about every show we have chosen and as hard as it is to believe, some of us have been doing this since January 07.

I guess I'll start off the nomination process on an odd note:

GCB (2012) to poke a little fun at drama including the show's own soap opera vibe. Besides, who doesn't wanna see Itty Bitty as the closest thing a show has to a villain?

Battlestar Galactica (1978) since someone on the Caprica board was so adamant about the newer reboot, I thought I would roll out the old school version with Ben Cartwright as Adama and Starbuck as a dude who later joined The A-Team.

I'd've gotten away with it, too, if it weren't for you meddling kids.

Here are my two nominations:

FlashForward (2009) – Drama about a world-wide event that has individual consequences. (Because I won’t give up on it – and it might not be available on IMDB forever.)

Alien Nation (1989) – The Earth must adapt to a race of beings living among them. I saw it years ago and can vouch that it’s an excellent show.

Here are mine. I'm going with old school too:

1) Max Headroom (1987) - A 1980s icon, and after I read The Space Merchants, I think it sheds an interesting light on the dangers of communications conglomerates and uncontrolled advertising.

2) Planet of the Apes (1974) - Let's go ape crazy! A good chance to compare the classics with this new series of ape movies. And maybe you miss Roddy McDowall.

OK, after being responsible for the last two clunkers, I said I wouldn't nominate anything this time, but I lied. (Hey, at least I'm honest about my lying. )

Playing it safe this time:

Persons Unknown (2010) I've already watched half of this one, so I'm pretty confident. I understand it doesn't have a real ending, but that means that it can't be a letdown. Available on Netflix, Amazon and Vudu.

The Twilight Zone (1959) Season 1. Yeah, that's right. There is no way in hell I can end up regretting this one. And I'm sure we'll get some responses from the locals. Netflix, Amazon, Amazon Prime, iTunes, Vudu and FREE at TV.com
