Inspiration for an 'Outer Limits' Episode?

The dark-clad villains in the episode titled "Flash Gordon and The Planet Of Death" came from a hostile planet called Ebon. Years later "The Outer Limits" had an episode titled "Nightmare" showing Earth people at war with the dark, gargoyle-like people of Ebon. Was it just a coincidence that both menacing fictitious worlds were given the same name? [Btw, this is about the only interesting thing about that particular Flash show. The episode from "Outer Limits", on the other hand, is pretty good.]

I'm not sure about 'pretty' or 'good.' I think it is a matter of relativity.

Without a doubt later science fiction / horror / fantasy took a lot of ideas from some of these series, despite the lack of decent science, costumes, FX, and so on.

I've waded my way through the original Outer Limits and at best, they could be described as B-grade shows. Flash, on the same hand, is C-grade. Rocky Jones was a bit better than B-grade, but didn't come up to the level of films like War of the Worlds and George Pal's wonderful FX.

Nah, I'm pretty sure it's just a coincidence. After all, "Ebon" is a logical choice of name for a shadow planet where people dress in black, a.k.a. "ebony". :)
