Did Anyone Else Get Creeped Out By the Ending? *SPOILERS INSIDE*

Peronally it creeped me out. Being from a generation that saw this as Star Blazers in the early 80s, I waited 20+ years to finally see the end of this saga.

The Argo/Yamato trying to rise up out of the water, unmanned, torn in two, on its OWN...then finally giving up like a dying animal and sinking just gave me the ending a really creepy feel to it.

It was a good movie, I highly recommend it, the ending just wasn't really what one would expect at all.

I bought the manga at a convention before I bought the VHS, and didn't get too creeped out or misty eyed when I thumbed through the pages. When I finally wateched the tape a few years later I felt little bad, but not creeped out.

I loved the show as a kid, and still have a fondness for it. But you gotta know that the Yamato can't die

And here I thought the ending you were going to bring up was the fanservice Kodai/Yuki relationship consummation. :D

The less said about that, the better.

I have the feeling that the ship ending was supposed to be a callback to how the original yamato went down (an incredible explosion followed by a sinking), and how ships of that size actually sink. Think of the ending to Titanic with the prow rising high, high into the air until the back of the ship finally fills with water, dragging it down.

Of course, an explosion of that magnitude ought to have completely atomized Yamato, but the ship usually seems to survive incredible impacts.

I wasn't creeped out , I was a bit sad especially since it looked like avatar was still alive .
Even though the blast should have atomized him. His finger still in the trigger and while the bridge is flooded , he doesn't show any injuries but of course his eyes never open and the bridge sinks back beneath the waves. Very sad

So, a thought crossed your mind? Must have been a long and lonely journey
