And you know what? I'm actually glad I didn't.

See, I never saw any of those Americanized animes like Battle of the Planets or Voltron. Without nostalgia-coloured goggles, I can see how awful they actually are. I'm sure the original versions of said shows like Gatchaman and Dairugger XV are perfectly watchable - but I've just developed no tolerance at all towards censorship, especially as blatant as it was with shows like these.

I couldn't even finish watching the clip of the wave motion gun being fired for the first time when I saw the crudely inserted shot of the crew of the floating island "evacuating" before the whole island got vapourized. It was just bad, bad, bad. And the 70's cartoon voice acting didn't help either.

Agreed. The Westernization of these Japanese products is terrible. Why take somebody else art and sanitize it and change it? Why don't they create their own stuff?
