Excellent movie...most underrated

I really love this movie... The actors, the acting, the direction... All superb. It has flaws as all movies do, but overall I get this one. It makes me feel good. ;-)

I like this movie too
I can really relate to Dr. Mumford,I find people always opening up to me and talking about their lives and inner issues
Maybe I should consider a career as a fake psychologist

Agree...it wasn't a perfect film, but I enjoyed it very, very much and easily consider it to be one of the most underrated films I've ever seen.

just found on VHS for $1, and watched it over the weekend, its gotta be one of my favorite movies ever now.

its completely laughable, cuz mumford, no matter where he went or what he did people would just come out of the woodwork to have him treat them.

and i also loved how they all ended up helping themselves in the longrun and he didnt do anything at all.

and even at the end of the movie, when he's getting escorted to jail, the cop wants to run an issue w/ his wife by him, its like no one will let him STOP being a councellor.

my guess is that after the events in the movie he actually may go and take the test and get the actual liscense.

reply

He can't actually just "go take the test", at least in most areas. He has to have a doctorate degree and training in psychology before most places will even allow him to attempt to take the test for certification and licensing.

I agree. Looking at how much it cost to make compared to it's total gross, it would be considered a flop. It's anything BUT a flop, however! It's a clever, gentle movie, well directed and acted and leaves the viewer with a smile. Why did it cost $28,000,000.00 to make?? Are dressing trailers and donuts THAT expensive??

It is a movie with heart and a good story. The Majestic with Jim Carrey is another one that I would put in the same boat. I am glad others like Mumford also.

It's a gem. Great movie.

this movie is beyond great. even though I have the DVD, I still watch it when it comes one. Loren Dean is a wonderful actor. and the music is great. Till It Shines sung by both Bob Seegar and Lyle Lovett is perfect.
