I wish Mann hadn't gone video-crazy and had kept using film...
So many great shots, one of my favorites is when Al Pacino "discovers" the middle-eastern city and makes a call in a balcony.
One of my favorite shots is the last scene when he left CBS building, the doors opened/closed/rotated; like the background music too.
shareDigital has a different look, and Michael Mann is doing brilliant work with it. To each their own. I like his celluloid films and his digital ones. They all have his style, and he can push it further with digital, actually.
shareJust watched this movie last night for the first time in ages and came on here to post that very thing!
The cinematography of this film was simply breathtaking. The lighting, especially in the indoor and night scenes, is gorgeous, and the color motifs are fascinating. Very desaturated and monochromatic, with specific tones used in different scenes. And a similar graininess to what Mann and Spinotti used in Heat, but somehow different this time and a stylish graininess at that.
