5.5?! Why I did I never hear of this surfing movie?

I don't understand the low rating. A few years ago I was looking for surfing movies to watch and got the same old North Shore, Endless Summer, Point Break, Blue Crush, big wave surfers documentary etc.. recommendations but never heard of this. This might as well be a Point Break 2 because it is very good. The odd thing is I was looking for travel movies and in some obscure reference this was recommended. Sure it is a good travel movie too, however it is foremost a surfing movie. Why did I not hear of this in 98? Sure wish I watched it then. It sure would have gotten me out of the funk I was in back then.

This movie is about living life on the edge. Being in your top most condition to handle everything life throws at you, where ever around the world your life might be. I was astounded by the amazing athletes in this movie. The incredible footage, the scenes of foreign lands and even the story is good. This movie is one of those that makes you want to be an extreme adrenaline junky. It makes you want to live life to the fullest. You can not accuse Mickey of not living life to the fullest. And heed his advice towards the end. If you're reading this and in your 20s, do NOT squander your life. I'm warning you. Live it now. Get in the best shape you can. Make as much money as you can and then set out into the world and see what you can find. The sooner you start the better so if you're just 16 get started now.

I found it a bit weird, like the scene where they're chasing each other, and I think Shane grabs the guy, holds him, and tells him "people burn out" or wtv, seems like the opposite of what you said. And it was weird...lol
But otherwise yeah it was cool, it had a total 90's Cali surf vibe, it was great visually. Quite recommendable for a single watch.
