Is it bad to like this film?

Just caught this, this afternoon and I just started watching it - I love films where apparently the ugly girl gets transformed into a pretty girl. But I actually liked this movie, don't get me wrong parts of it made me cringe and other parts made me laugh out loud but hey it wasn't too bad! Lastly I really fancied Reagan - oh god how embarrasing yes I did/do!
Mwa ha ha

Nope I thought it was not that bad.I loved it when jonathan Cake [Reagan] took his shirt off yummy lol, he can take it off anytime for me lol. Also he isnt a bad actor and he is british. Its a shame you dont see him on tv or films that much here.

It wasn't a bad film, if you overlook the fact that it's a Harlequin romance, which are usually very basic and without depth. This one had the right formula though, which is not something you can say about the other 11 movies in the series, which were highly cringeable. Yes, I am a true romantic and purchased all 12- alas! This one was good as both leading men were very cute, despite bad accents (- I would have prefered J.Cake with an English accent), Joely Collins had spunk, and the vineyard shots were very scenic. Last but not least, there was great chemistry between the leading couple, which is not always the case in romantic movies. Overall it leaves you with a warm feeling, as opposed to a why-did-I-waste-an-hour-and-a-half-for-nothing feeling, so what's not to like?

There were 12 movies by Harliquin? I must have not seen them all. I remember this one and maybe one or two others. What were the other ones? Maybe I have seen them and didn't realize they were Harliquin movies.

I also remember This Matter of Marriage and A Change of Place. I don't think I seen the others listed at the bottom of the IMDb page.

Are you kidding? This movie epitomizes the guilty pleasure movie. Totally cringe-worthy with some unintentionally hilarious moments (Regan sees Clare in her underwear in the dressing room! He is overcome! Oh my!)But the male lead is hotness itself. Throw me on the bed, Regan!! lol

i have to say i love this movie. regan is soooo hot!!!! i'm actually buying it on ebay!!

I have to admit, had Jonathan Cake not been the lead, I wouldn't be so enthusiastic about the film either. I think primarily the main reason I enjoyed it was that he's so fine to look at, ESPECIALLy without his shirt on! Even his acting wasn't that great, too cardboard, I've seen him act a LOT better in other stuff prior to this. Still, just call me shallow...

I had never heard of Jonathan Cake nor seen any of his work...but he quickly caught my attention....
very handsome, sexy and quite the fine actor...
I had seen this film "years" ago, and quite dismissed it...except for Jonathan...never quite forgot him....

I recently taped this film (in November of this year,) from Lifetime Movie Channel (here in the USA)...& only recently watched it...& the more I watch it, the more I like it...
its very enjoyable although a few scenes are quite "cheesey", for a lack of a better word...but
watching JC..makes it all worth the while...

I am now trying to buy a DVD of this film...if one is available.

I would love to seem more of his work...and hear his British accent....
I notice his IMDB bio is virtually nil...no photo of him...what's with that....I wish they would update it...

But I have noticed that JC has done theater work on Broadway...if only I knew of it...I would
have most surely gone to see him...

I like this movie very much. Yes, the two main characters had chemistry. Which is nice. I didn't know Jonathan is British. Nice job with an American accent.

I loved the cheese factor in this movie. It is a true guilty pleasure and I enjoyed every minute of it. LOL

reply

No. I liked it. Haven't read the book, but plan to eventually.
