why didn't the dragonaballs vanish?

Shouldn't the dragonballs have dissapeared when Piccolo died??? How did they come back after the super 17 saga???

GT IS THE ANSWER

Because the old Dragonballs (Red star) were now tied to Dende. When Kami and Picillo combined again, they old balls Kami created turned to stone.

Dende then recreated them by using Kami's Dragon Shenlong.

Which is why the Black Star Balls are now active because they were created when Kami and Picillo were one.
