Why did they have to turn Goku back into a child?

For me, this ruined the entire series

I know the people who created wanted Goku to be less god-like in power but still, Goku was never the same after turning back into a child

I guess to try to recapture some of the old DB humor like making him wuss out the moment he got hungry and such.

But they even failed at the humor, Goku as a child was a terrible idea.

Enough is enough! I have had it with these monkey fighting snakes on this Monday thru Friday plane!

But he isnt a child. hes a 50 year old in a midgety body.
