This movie was really bad

And it also left me with a bunch of questions to be answered.

Why did he never play football agan?
How come they got in the finals and won everything, even though they lost the previeous match?
Why did the coach just quit?
Why were he so obsessed with getting a scholarship, when you can get into a college, just by doing your homework?

Why did he never play football agan?

He never really loved football. His father forced him to play and he would rather read a move hidden in the play book. It wasn't his passion and he didn't belong in that world.

They didn't have a "perfect season," but they did win the majority of the games in the season.

Why did the coach just quit?

He was forced to quit. Being disgraced and exposed for the bad person he was forced him to quit. He couldn't have gone back with everyone knowing he only cared about winning, even at the expense of busted knees, ruined lives and being a sick control freak. Plus, the look on his face when he tried to choke out Mox said it all: he was disgusted with himself, too.

Why were he so obsessed with getting a scholarship, when you can get into a college, just by doing your homework?

The coach had threatened to take his scholarship away if he didn't play/win. So he had to become obsessed about the game for his future.

1: Didn't he say in the movie that he loved football?
2: Yes but how could they get in the finals if they lost the previeous match? And why did they cheer so much in the ending if their season wasn't perfect?
3:Yes but why did he need it? Can't he get in college without it? Is he that lazy, that he don't do his homework?

It was not the finals. It was the District Championship game. Gilroy was undefeated coming into the game while West Cannan had one loss. The winner of the game would go on to win the district championship because with a win over gilroy WC would own the head to head tiebreaker. The movie does actually leave open ended of weather or not they were invited to play in the state tournament. The championship they won in the movie is a regular season championship. MOX does say he loves football in the film, but he decided to go to Brown which is an ivy league school. Football is not of much thought at a school like Brown. By choosing to go to Brown or even qualifying for Brown you have to be very smart. One could conclude that education was more important than football for moxon. It is actually a nice lesson in the movie.

Moxon had done his homework. (We can assume that he also had very high college board scores;it's impossible to get into an Ivy League university without them.) The coach threatened to alter his transcripts so that his acceptance and/or full scholarship might be withdrawn from Brown. A full scholarship to an Ivy League university ( or any other $$$$$ private college) is something no one would want to have taken away. They were hard to get in the 1990s and the competition is even stiffer now.

As for why they cheered despite a one-loss season: because they won the district championship in a close game and the victory was entirely theirs.

Good movie.

Yes, Mox says he loves football... when it's "pure". Van Der Beek's sincere delivery cracks me up on that line.

I like the part when they Slow-Clap!

You didn't even like the "Hot for teacher" scene? That was hilarious!

Sure, anyone can get into a college per say. However, not just anyone can get into an Ivy League College such as Brown. The reason Mox was so obsessed over getting AND keeping his "full ride" scholarship is because that type of scholarship pays for ALL of his monetary needs for his entire college career - his tuition, his books, his dorm, his meal tickets, etc. Anything that has to do with his college degree. That is extremely important to pretty much EVERY high school kid and family that is wanting to go to college, because trust me, as a mom that has 4 kids and 1 in college with 2 coming up to college age (the oldest is 28 and past college time) a full ride scholarship is AMAZING!!! College ain't no joke when it comes to how much it costs!
