So where did the ending come from, where it shows what really happened, which only the killer would know?
Clint Eastwood was imaginatively constructing what *must* have happened. It must have happened the way he imagines because the dead nephew gave the old woman the murdered 7/11 clerk's personalized locket, proving he--not Isaiah Washington--was the killer.
