A 7.7 still too low!

Who's with me???

reply

I wouldn't say too low. I gave this movie an 8 and i believe that's the range it should be at. It is enjoyable, with a somewhat clever story and interesting characters. The thing that made it a classic was Denzel's acting.

You talkin’ to me?

reply

No its too high
Purely as a movie, not overly impressive by any stretch

reply

Should be at least 8.4
I gave it a 10

I'd say it should be around 8.2-8.3...

People who don't like their beliefs being laughed at shouldn't have such funny beliefs

reply

I gave it a 10, I'm generous that way.

I actually think it's a bit too high . Good movie , but it's a little over rated . I would say 7.3 is more like it . The top movies on imdb have 8's . And the ones all the way on top 250 maybe have 9's .

It was a good movie but not very memorable at least for me

@nelsboom.I gave it a 8.Keep in mind I haven't given any movie a 10 rating(to me a 10 means everything was perfect and I have zero complaints).The highest I rate movies is a 9.So,that's still very high.

i never understood this sort of mindset simply because it don't make sense having a 10/10 rating if you NEVER use it. a 10/10 simply means you enjoy a movie about as much as you can enjoy a movie.

Here is my rating scale in a fairly basic sense...

10 = About as much as i can enjoy a movie
9 = Nearly as much as i can enjoy a movie
8 = Memorable
7 = A Solid Thumbs Up
6 = A Mild Thumbs Up (My minimum score to re-watch a movie)
5 = Average/Forgettable (Thumbs Down)
4 = Below Average
3 = Failure and/or Boring
2 = Failure and/or Boring
1 = Abysmal/Hate

for measure... most movies i see get a 5/10 with a 6/10 being the next most common.

for the record... i ultimately rate movies based on how much i enjoy them. the further they get away from that, the lower the rating. that's the only way that make sense when rating movies since we all watch movies to be entertained first and foremost.

p.s. only 52 movies (so far) out of the 1,850+ total movies i have seen managed to get a 9/10 or 10/10 rating from me. also, less than 300 movies managed to get a 7/10 or higher from me. about 150-200 movies managed to get a 7.5-8/10 or higher from me and only 101 movies, so far, managed to get a SOLID 8/10 or higher from me (i.e. My Top 100-ish Movies of All-Time!(see my signature))

also, from what i have noticed my rating scale is very similar to most peoples around IMDb from what i have seen as while some people word theirs differently i can tell they basically mean the same thing.
