Angry at Theresa...glad the guy dies...

I'm glad he dies... so he could finally be with his wife Catherine, in a way, and leaves Theresa the bitch in the dust.

Story is weird.
He grieves his wife for 2 years, refuses to move her stuff in the house and writes her letters in bottles.. Then some writer woman comes along and he falls straight for her?

Stupid woman comes to him only out of curosity by some accidental discovery of a bottle, never tells the guy that she's a writer and has his personal letter published without his consent. He should sue her! She still dares to cry like she's a victim and swears she's going to tell him.

Yeah, after she's slept with him! Makes me so angry when I watch his stricken face as he finds the bottle and article in the drawer. The damage that she's done to him.

Taking advantage of a grieving husband and manipulates him to fall in love with her is just plain sick. A liar who keeps the truth from him. Only because he finds Catherine's last letter through her would he forgive her. But if I were him, I'd just pay her for the letter and still get the hell out.

I don't buy it when he writes his last letter that he loves her just as much as Catherine as in the story, they know each other forever and their love is very strong, definitely stronger than the bitch Theresa that he only knows for a short while.

I'm happy Catherine is the reason he's out in the sea and even it's sad that he dies, at least Teresa now can never have him as she just doesn't deserve this love from such a devoted man. No wonder her ex-husband dumps her.

You fool- don't you know enough not to put a spoiler in the title? I can't stand how inconsiderate people are. Not everyone has seen the film before coming here to scan and see if it's a good movie.

Oh My God, I did not even notice that! I already saw the movie, so it didn't hit me!

In all fairness, her boss wrote and published the story without telling her or without her permission.

Maybe you had a phone call or a bathroom break when that part happened.

That was so funny, ahahaha! I don't know. I don't think so. I think that 'layton50' had hard times with a woman/women. Really reminds me of a conversation I had here about Blue Valentine. When personally invested, people are just not fairly honest. They just take what serves them and use it to trash someone, even if it's only a movie character.

But good thing is that I found at least one good reason for the guy to die at the end, and that's nice, because I don't like how I feel right now with that guy dying at the end. I have like this little voice inside saying : "no, please, no, why, why did they write that ending..." Until the very end, I hoped he would come back. When Paul Newman was standing in the end, I hoped his son would appear at the door but I thought it would look crazy so they wouldn't do that. I also imagined maybe he would be found later on an island... safe... My mind just couldn't accept he'd die after all that. Like he was finally ready to go on! *beep*!! I just never get used to these sad endings. Who writes them and why???

I agree with some of your points, from a man's perspective it seems lousy that she deceives him and draws him in without mentioning her knowledge of the letters and Catherine. But if she told him up front about all that there's no movie.

But to the last point about his last letter written to Catherine about Teresa?

I think he said he was only willing/trying to find love again (for a second time) and not that he loves Teresa as much or more than Catherine. He was only going to try and find it again instead of clinging to the past and his memories of his deceased wife.

To the original poster, thanks for ruining the ending for me, especially with your title. Next time I'll watch a movie first and look at the reviews afterwards.
