GIGANTIC plot hole.

They need to go outside to get a clear reception for their morse code machine...and sure enough they literally go outside and leave the lighthouse! Not wise.

Not only that, because they were two scared to go outside initially, they devise the entire firebomb plan.

All this fuss (and death) about leaving the lighthouse to go outside...when all they had to do was climb to the top of the lighthouse and stand outside, in perfect safety, in the best place possible to send a signal from!

Idiots...You are in a lighthouse.
A tall lighthouse.
A lighthouse you can climb to the top of.
A lighthouse you can climb to the top of and stand outside on the balcony of.
Thus you are in an elevated position, outside of the walls but still safe on the lighthouse!

Worse the film then has the finale staged, guess where, on that same top/outside on the balcony of the lighthouse they seemed to forget existed.

This complete scripting cock-up literally gets 3 characters killed!

Shame.

The guy that fixed the morse code machine said the building would distort the signal and they had to get as far away from it as they could,he didn't want to which is why they came up with the fire bomb plan.
