Proof of the Stupidity of Frats

This film is proof that Fraternities are completely and utterly a joke. To join a frat just makes the world feel bad for you.

You obviously have absolutely no familiarity of the contemporary fraternity system. Go back to watching Animal House and we'll all feel bad for you and your enslavement to stereotypes...

Your comment is proof you don't actually know anything about Fraternities. Your complete and utter ignorance makes the world feel bad for you.

Frat House was originally intended to be shown on the HBO TV channel, but was never aired after receiving allegations that much of the final portion of the film was staged. The sequences concerned involved 'hazing', in which aspring members of the fraternity (known as 'pledges') are seen undergoing humiliating initiation rites. The allegation is that the pledges who appear on screen were in fact already members of the fraternity: the fraternity chapter was paid $1500 to film the events, and several members were paid $50 each to pretend to be pledges and re-enact things that were rumored to happen during fratenity pledging rituals. The filmmakers signed non-binding forms stating that the school and fraternity names would not be used, and that the events did not reflect the behavior of the fraternity. The deceit was noticed because the film was shot in the Spring, but Muhlenberg College did not rush during the Spring.[citation needed]

Phillips and Garland claim their film is completely accurate, but they have not refuted the claim that pledging did not happen during the Spring at Muhlenberg College.[citation needed] While not admitting to have done it himself, Phillips argues that staging re-enactments of true events is a technique used by well-known documentarians such as Nick Broomfield and Michael Moore.[2]

Hmmmm...even if the allegations are true (citations needed), they still seem pretty *beep* stupid. I don't *beep* think there was a *beep* sentence uttered in the entire *beep* movie that didn't *beep* make them look like neanderthal *beep* children. But *beep* whatever. If these people wanted to *beep* join such an obviously *beep* idiotic group of *beep* people, it doesn't *beep* bother me.

I'm in a fraternity, we don't haze even close to the amount in this movie. We don't even paddle, and to be honest everything nowadays ins considered hazing, even a scavenger hunt(which I did and enjoyed the hell out of) is considered hazing.

Besides the pledge process, I've learned business skills, I've learned Roberts Rules of Order, my social life has completely taken a turn for the best. I have connections in the software engineering field I wouldn't have had otherwise (I'm a Computer Science Major) I got a part time job during college directly because of one of my brothers. Some people learn how to create and balance a budget, some people gain countless community service and philanthropy skills they can put on their resume. We have sporting events with other fraternities on campus, as well as other chapters of my fraternity and versus the alumni in my chapter. We have formal events and retreats which would I would have never experienced in my life if it wasn't for my fraternity and I can honestly say those are the greatest times of my life.

Go *beep* yourself GDI for believing in the propaganda which is this film. Forcing pledges to bite a head off of a rat... that is just f'ing ridiculous.
