Spielberg to Head into Space

"Paramount Pictures and Steven Spielberg will develop a space travel story about a group of explorers who travel through a worm hole and into another dimension. Spielberg hopes to direct the film, which Lynda Obst will produce.

does this sound like the dig? I think so. I wish he would do the dig as a movie instead of making a totally different movie. oh well, guess this is better than nothing... this is probably as close as we're ever gonna get...

For the love of God let it be The Dig

So I'm not sick? Except for this terminal disease?

They say the movie is based on actual science and is about wormholes. The dig uses a crystal spaceship that transforms out of an asteroid to travel. So i don´t think this will become "The Dig" but like you said it´s probably as close as we´re ever gonna get.

Back in ´95 spielberg said it was impossible to make "The Dig" a movie because they would have to build huge sets (The game has about 200 locations).

As much as i would still like to see "The Dig" on the big screen, i´ll wait for this one and see how it turns out.

It's called "Interstellar" according to spielbergfilms.com.

Ach....oh well. Maybe somebody some day will make a Dig movie. It's the perfect idea.

So I'm not sick? Except for this terminal disease?

After I get a Zelda trilogy made, a Full Throttle movie, and even a Monkey Island movie, I intend on bring the Dig to life on the big screen one day. Oh, to dream.

reply

riiiight..... great logic.

So 200+ locations would all be built sets? Ever hear of Matte Paintings and greenscreen????

Spielberg said at the time that a movie version of The Dig would be too much expensive. But he said that almost 15 years ago...

Major film studios can produce movies with a very expensive pricetag today. And special effects are much more developped today than they were before.

There's the "Interstellar" movie that is under development, but I'm afraid that it won't be a Dig adaptation. And because both deal with space travel, I don't think that Spielberg will ever bring The Dig to the big screen.

But we can still hope that somebody will someday...
