1/10. Here's why / Esta es la razón / Questa è la raggione:
INFERNO doesn’t add anything new to the YOJIMBO story. At least LAST MAN STANDING tried by changing the time and place (like A FISTFUL OF DOLLARS had already done). Yes, this one takes place in present day, but there was nothing that made me think “This story could only take place in that setting.” I feared that Jean-Claude Van Damme would just play a tough guy like Bruce Willis did. It turns out that he tries to be charismatic. Unfortunately, that’s not what this movie needed. There’s a reason why Mifune and Eastwood acted the way they did: They kept their distance to make it clear that their characters didn’t want to take sides. EDDIE LOMAX (the protagonist) does that, which makes the plot even more straight-forward than it already was. Plus, EDDIE is a hero, while all the other versions of the character were anti-heroes.

INFIERNO no añade nada nuevo a la historia de YOJIMBO. Al menos ENTRE 2 FUEGOS lo intentó al cambiar la época y el lugar (como POR UN PUÑADO DE DOLARES ya había hecho). Cierto que esta transcurre en el presente, pero no hubo nada que me hiciera pensar «Esta historia solo podría transcurrir en esta ambientación». Temí que Jean-Claude Van Damme solo interpretaría a un tipo rudo como Bruce Willis hizo. Resulta que trata de ser carismático. Desafortunadamente, eso no es lo que esta película necesitaba. Hay una razón por la que Mifune e Eastwood actuaron en la manera que lo hicieron: mantuvieron su distancia para dejar claro que sus personajes no querían elegir bandos. EDDIE LOMAX (el protagonista) hace eso, lo que hace que la trama sea incluso más directa de lo que ya era. Además, EDDIE es un héroe, mientras que todas las otras versiones del personaje eran anti-héroes.

INFERNO non aggiunge niente nuovo alla storia di YOJIMBO. Almeno ANCORA VIVO ha tentato di farlo al cambiare l'epoca e il luogo (come PER UN PUGNO DI DOLLARI già aveva fatto). È vero, questo ha luogo nel presente, ma non c'è stato nulla che mi facesse pensare «Questa storia solo potrebbe avere luogo in quest'ambientazione». Ho avuto paura che Jean-Claude Van Damme solo reciterebbe un tipo duro come Bruce Willis ha fatto. A quanto pare, lui tenta di essere carismatico. Sfortunadamente, quello non è ci che questo film aveva bisogno. C'è una raggione perché Mifune ed Eastwood hanno recitato nel modo che hanno fatto: hanno mantenuto la distanza per chiarire che i loro personaggi non volevano prendere le parti. EDDIE LOMAX (il protagonista) fa quello, cui diventa la trama ancora più diritta di quello che già era. Pure, EDDIE è un eroe, mentre tutte le altri versioni del personaggio erano anti-eroi.
