Think this shoulda been original?

Kinda. It's been changed so much I don't know why they bothered to call it "Hercules". This one was still pretty interesting. It was designed by caricaturist Gerald Scarfe, famous for his goosestepping hammers. Plus the way it's not afraid to be gross and was forgotten by the public made it all the more special...Not that it wasn't endlessly advertised and merchandised.

I don't think there's anything wrong with Hercules altering the mythology, as long as they are doing it on purpose and not pretnding to be accurate like some people. *cough*Wolfgang Petersen*cough* I've actually written a few stories myself where I started with a basic Greek myth and then changed it around and embellished it. Though I'll admit this show does kind of take the "changing" to the extreme. But at least it will still help to get some of the younger viewers interested in Greek mythology! And for the people like me who already love Greek mythology and know a lot about it, we can enjoy catching all of those obscure and subtle mythological references that appear in every show. I used to watch "Hercules" every morning when it was first being aired, and now that I've started watching it again with a much greater knowledge of Ancient Greece, I realize how many things I missed the first time!
What I'm basically trying to say is that if Disney wants to put their own creative spin on Greek mythology, I think it's great! I can understand why it would annoy some people, but just think of it as them writing "fan fictions" about the myths. That's not so bad, is it?
