More like this?

I just finished watching the series and I want to know where I can find more movies or TV series like Heat of the Sun!

It had all the elements of what I like in a movie or TV series: a mystery set in an exotic location, in a specific time period (check); a smart, tough, independent-minded protagonist with somewhat-checkered past (check); a beautiful, intelligent, free-spirited female love interest (check); a loyal, dependable assistant or two (check); a cast of shady/pompous/insanely brutal suspects (check); beautiful scenery, wild animals, colorful native people (check).

So sad they only made three episodes. It's cliche to say, but I wish they made more movies like this! The acting, the writing, the on-location production were all top-notch. In addition to the central mystery, it touches on issues of race relations and class distinctions of the time and uses history as a backdrop. I welcome any recommendations you may have for similar fare. I find I particularly like British mini-series.

It was a combined BBC - WGBH production, and a high quality one that makes it very unique. You might like Foyle's War, though that's more another WW2 era detective series (I'm really tired of WW2 as a stage setting for TV and film).

Give Acorn TV a try. They might have more of what you like there.

Try "George Gently". It takes place in Northern England in the sixties which isn't very exotic, but it is a well done show and at least it isn't set in London.

Thank you for the recommendation. Sounds interesting and I see it's on Netflix.

DEATH IN PARADISE is quite similar bu far more humour , sort of Doc Martin goes to St. Martin's andolves murders. Two seasons now on Netflix.
