I'd have to say season 5 was the best with season six a close second.
Seasons 1 and 2 had interesting cases, but the cast, other than Julie Stewart, all came across as very amateurish in their acting, and they didn't seem to mesh as a team.
With the cast overhaul along with the change to the look and feel of the show that took place in season 3, the show seemed more polished. The team looked and worked well together. Season 4 continued this. I wasn't a big fan of the Frank character, though, and enjoyed the show even more when the Len Harper character joined the squad in season 5.
Season 5 was great. The only thing I did not like about season 6 was that they had the Mickey character move upstairs to a desk job, as well as having Nicco suspended and then on desk duty for most of the season. Both of these characters were wasted during this season, in my opinion. They had a good thing going in season 5 and should have stuck with that.
Season 7 was watchable and had some interesting cases, but on a whole it was the worst season. With the new, more modern headquarters and no Mickey or Nicco it just lost whatever it had. The Samantha character was just annoying and the Ray character was as well, the beat cop always showing up and butting in to their cases.
