Whitman Mayo's Final Movie

I can tell you all the main reason I got this movie was because of Whitman Mayo playing in it. This allowed me to see what he looked like just 2 years before he died. I had not seen him on other shows since Sanford and Son. When i first played the DVD of this movie I had to carefully study him to reconize him after all these years. After the Taxi cab pulled up in the yard and he said "well look who is here!" The sound of his voice there made it to where I could identify that right there was the famous Grady from Sanford and Son.

You hadn't seen him since Sanford and Son? Where have you been? He had been before the cameras several times since that show ended. For example, didn't you see him in the classic Boyz In The Hood? I watched this movie because it was shot in my area and certain scenes were shot in my co worker's yard.

Stonedog23,

I am just now going to be 27 years old next month and i have to say that when i first saw Whitman Mayo as Grady on reruns of Sanford and Son I was under the age of 10. Then as I was growing up those other things you say he has been in probably aired at times when I was in bed on a school night. Then when my family temporarily had cable tv during my late teens and early 20's all i ever saw was reruns of Sanford and Son. Then one night in late 2001 after DVDs started coming out I was in a Wal-mart store with my dad and we were looking in the 2 for 11 dollars DVD bin and I happen to find that waterproof movie. I noticed it had Burt Reynolds in it but when i looked down and say Whitman Mayo right there in my mind i shouted out "That's good old Grady!" Then i got the DVD and watched it and when i looked at the special features and found out he had died before the DVD was released I just at least said to my family that I am glad we got to see what he looked like before he died because since all six seasons of Sanford and Son are on DVD and we have the Waterproof movie we can see how his appearance changed from the time he was watching old Fred Sanford have those heart attacks to the time he was making Burt Reynolds eat those spider legs to heal up that gunshot wound. So you see because of how my family's scedule was and such I have only seen those two things that Whitman Mayo was in. all I can say to that is Good Googly Goop!

It's too bad Mr. Mayo didn't have a bigger film career after "Sanford and Son." I didn't even realize this was him until the end credits, despite the fact that he really hasn't changed much since his Grady years.
