I think he did die. It was his hubris that killed him. He was such a cocky bastard when he was all like "the Japanese weren't built to run, they were built to last!" What I'm curious about is whether or not the one-eyed scientist died...they were sucking the venom out of his ass after he was bitten by the snake but in the end but we never really know if he made it or not! He does reappear in that dream sequence but it's just not enough closure! We just don't know if he's alive or dead!! I guess it just adds to the mystique of this crappy crappy movie.
