Diver or Max?

Ok guys, I can't believe I'm the only person to have started a thread here! Where are all you Seachange fans?

So, if anyone out there happens to stumble upon this, who did you prefer, Diver Dan or Max Connors?

Thankgod for model trains

me: diver, all the way.
My MUM however is a different story ( and im not actually sure whether she really has made up her mind yet), first being madly in love with diver, then quickly switching affections once max appeared on the scene!

reply

Oh, Max all the way for me! Okay, I loved Diver madly, but what I felt for Max was so much deeper. (Yes, yes - I'm aware they're fictional characters). I was devastated when Diver left, and usually in those situations I detest the "replacement", but Max never once bothered me, and just found his way right into my heart. I'll never stop loving Diver, but Max will always have the upper hand.

Max - definately Max. He was a *beep* bugger who used to always get Laura's goat, but he only stirred her up to hide his true affections for her - we all knew that Max really loved Laura, and he didn't run off like that big girl's blouse, Diver Dan. And Max had some of the best lines in the show. Even if he did allegedly have sex with trees...

MAX ALL THE WAY

Lucky Laura...she had both. Why her and not me? So... BOTH

reply

DIVER DAN!

Max was brash and cocky, whereas Diver was warm-hearted and gentle - even when he was teasing or arguing with Laura it was never mean-spirited. Max was all swagger and no substance, but Diver had it all - looks, charm, sense of humour, loyalty, strong convictions... his only black mark was running off to the Galapagos Islands and deserting Laura! But I blame David Wenham for that, not Diver ;)

reply

Max all the way, his relationship with Laura was based on so much more then Divers, lol Give me max any day

reply

*Sigh*
Diver
Nobody can come close.

Warwick Munro!

reply

Yes, Warwick Munro was great and such a nice guy... a bit too nice for Laura's liking, in the end.

She was always crazy for Max and Warwick was just a pleasant diversion.

Shaun Micallef did a fantastic job with Warwick Munro's character, however.

reply

I gotta say Diver.
He played that character so well.

I replied to this thread a year and a half ago, but feel like coming back because I've been going through a SeaChange phase recently (I do this every two years or so).

Max for sure! Always and forever! Sure, Diver was a great character that I absolutely LOVED, but if he really felt anything for Laura, he would have stuck around... Max was there for the long haul (though he did get over the death of Elena pretty fast, hey?) and he just had a bit more depth than Diver. It's not really a hard choice, even though, back in s1, I didn't think I would ever love anyone more than I lived Diver (well, I WAS only 11/12 years old, during the show's original run...).

Diver, hands down.

P.S. Did anyone else notice that Max is Sandy Freckle from Kath and Kim? Once i realised that, i just couldn't take him seriously :P

reply

MAX for sure!

max was great but diver was cool. the winner is... diver dan.

Hard question I gotta say. My girlfriend got me into this show and was always a Max fan and largely puts that down to her first exposure being season 2 during the original TV run. So I guess Diver was a bit strange for her but likes him nonetheless.

I'm a huge fan of Diver and was stunned at his departure. I was certain he'd make a return at the end of the season but soon realised he wasn't coming back. Max grew on me and I guess they had more time to flesh out his character. Going back and watching the series for a 2nd time, I'm certain Max comes out on top. The most touching moments in the series involve Max (Ep. 5 season 2 'Head for Water' is really memorable as is the culmination of the show at the end of season 3) so it's hard to go back and watch season 1 with the same expectation. Love it all though.

TLDR: Max
