Why is there so much hate on this movie?

I really loved this film and found it hilarious.
All the performances were wonderful, and the screenplay and direction were a brilliantly creative riot!

I really don't get why people didn't enjoy this...?

It's not a bad movie, but just seemed a bit "ordinary", compared to the Coen Brothers' other films.

I saw it last night, for the first time since it came out, and while there were many scenes I really liked, especially in the first-act buildup, the entire film didn't seem even enough in tone.

It wasn't the total disaster Ladykillers was, but it was a weak entry in the Coens' career. But I certainly don't hate it.

Agreed. It was watchable, and did have good scenes, but was just kinda bland and uneven overall. People have just come to expect a lot from them because they have made some of the best modern films.

Loved this movie and could watch it over and over again without getting bored, whatever the bashers out there are saying.

Only thing that sucked was the title. 'Sitting Duck' would have been much better.

The acting was over the top, Clooney's exaggerated mugging, grinning, eyebrow action were ridiculous. Rush and CZJ were OK, everyone else played it like a sitcom. Blame the Director for that, should've been more subtle.

I agree. It's more light hearted than most of the Coen's movies but still a solid 7/10 imo

Yes, I fully agree with you

The movie was totally brilliant, funny, sharp, extremely well acted (and I DON'T usually care for KZJ that much)

I genuinely feel that the movie was perfect in every way and gave it a '10' which I rarely do. I think people are VERY erroneously COMPARING it to their other films which for the most part are so individual and clever, that they are then grading this one on a VERY sharp curve and considering it 'average'. That just simply is NOT true. When viewed separately and considering it's own merits, I do not think you can honestly find ANY flaws or shortcomings in any way.

The writing was sharp and worked well. All the actors were excellent; the pacing and humour were spot on.

I truly do NOT see why the rating is so low EXCEPT for the fact that people MUST be weighing it against their other films which is NOT, I REPEAT N O T the reason we rate films here!!! We rate them as self-contained entities on their own merits REGARDLESS of who does them!
