^^^ disagree. i think wrong OP is correct when OP said MARRIAGE system.

I agree with the OP about how it shows what is wrong with marriage.

I think the marriage system should be converted into a REALISTIC contract agreement. Kind of more like a business contract.

Getting married is a contract in the first place. You sign papers and you agree to vows which are to be with each other through bad and good and forever. The thing with this is the vows/contract is outdated and is not realistic in todays terms.

To be honest i think it should be converted into a more of a business contract. I know the idea of it is not romantic however i think a business marriage contract would be more realistic and more FAIR for both parties going in.

Example.... the marriage contract should have things like

1, who buys the house, both parties or the one who makes the most money

2, where they live? city or which house. His or hers?

3, how many kids? no kids, 1,2,3?

4, How long is the marriage contract for before RENEWING the marriage? i think in todays world. this would be more realistic than saying till death do us part. Example.. i think a 10 yr marriage contract in todays world is realistic. If both parties are happy after 10 yrs. they renew the marriage contract. This way there is no divorce. If they are unhappy Most people would wait it out till the contract ends.

5, How things are divided is the marriage contract ends and does not get renewed. This would reduce unfair financial divides especially with the man involved. I've met so many men who lost their life savings due to a divorce. :(

6, Who works and who look after the kids etc?

7, how often do you have sex? I think having a contract with how often sex is extremely important because alot of divorces/unhappy marriages is caused by a sexless marriages.

Marriage is a contract whose terms are constantly being negotiated over the years.
There is no way on earth to anticipate all the major life events that will affect a couple down through the decades.

Get me a bromide! And put some gin in it!

the OP is absolutely right. In fact ,something similar to what the OP proposes exists in some countries in europe, and its much more realistic. This movie may be a satire but makes fun of basicaly California marital law.Similar laws may exist in other US states or they may differ.

No it displays whats wrong with men falling 'in love' and marrying women simply because of their looks.

Their shallowness always comes back to bite them in the butt, more fool them.

Ashmi any question

Really? You want to blame men for this? How about all the mercenary women in the film who manipulated and then marred men solely for the purpose of divorcing them and stealing their money!?

reply

Well if a man was smart enough he'd be able to avoid these types of women easily, but even when they make it so obvious men still don't care - they see a pair of tits, long legs and glamour and thats them smitten. Happy to sign over their life savings for the sake of having a good looking women on their arm momentarily. But yeah... thats the womens fault 

Yup, the mounting evidence.

Amazing reply, how long did it take you to think that one up?

reply

Yeah, Princess is an obvious man-hater and an idiot. You bring up a valid criticism about women a she is sure to flip it around and blame men.
