DVD Release August 30th

Rykodisc is releasing a DVD of the cult movie August 30th.

I vaguely remember this from Night Flight on USA back in the mid-eighties. Now if only we could get a Night Flight collection...

No, no, no, don't tug on that. You never know what it might be attached to.

I just watched this movie today. I bought it two years ago for a buck at a video store by my cabin. I thought it would be a funny, cheesy '80's zombie movie. Especially from the description on the back of the box, but instead I got a '50's-ish attempt at somewhat serious story telling. Pretty boring.

Best line: "Here's my hat, the rest of us will be down in a minute!"

or

"Why do I always have to suck the gas?"
"Because your a natural."

P.S.
This is what part of the alphabet would look like if Q and R were removed.
RIP Mitch.

That's cool you only payed a buck...This movie holds nostalgia for me for being one of the movie's they showed during Night Flight on the USA network in the 80's.

What exactly was Night Flight anyway?

I was in chicago a couple of weeks ago and they had this show on called Sven-goolie where this weird guy did cheesy stuff inbetween old horror movies. Anyway if it's anything similar to that I wish it were still on. Nothing cool like that exists in the metro-detroit area.

Sven has been around since the late 70's. He's another piece of my youth, as I grew up in the Chicago area from the late 70's to mid-eighties.

Night Flight was a weekend late night program that ran on the USA network from '81 to '88. They showed music videos (before MTV) and cult movies, odd animated stuff. No visible host, instead there was a "magic voice" who introduced each segment. There's a few fansites out there.

It's too bad nothing like that exists now.

zibbitybop, any chance I could get a copy of that???

buckaroob, I to have enjoyed this flick ever since I saw it on Night Flight.

Unfortunately, the DVD release blows, and blows hard. Stock footage added, parts of the original taken out, original music replaced by a new soundtrack which is way too loud and never stops...I watched 10 minutes of the dvd and turned it off. I'm watching my Night Flight version now.

THEY HAVE RUINED THIS FILM.

The best suggestion I can give is to check video stores, and ask to buy it from them. Not Blockbuster type chains, but a video store (if they still exist.)

Man you guys who talked about Night Flight I remember watching that during the 80's! That brings back a lot of great memories! They even showed I remember late at night Africa Screams with Abbott And Costello!

Then came a show in 1986 called USA UP ALL NIGHT which showed these cheesy, low budget, cult classics! The hosts were Caroline Schlitt on Friday nights until she left to get married and retired from acting.

Rhonda Shear replaced her for the Friday night show and Gilbert Gottfried always did the Saturday night show! This was great to watch! I loved it!

Dedicated to USA UP ALL NIGHT and the fans of the show! http://deefilmroll.com/usa-uan/

I have to agree. On a more positive note, the Continental VHS release (in the yellow box) is the original 91 minute edit with the library music left intact.
