Sad ending with potential

Don't get me wrong, this was a movie with a message to get accross.
That Ari was on a path of self destrustion.
Living a secret life form his strong overtonning greek family.
Having one night stands and loads of drugs to escape reality and to feel alive.

But the end with sean was really depressing. Like the story could have turned around but it continued to spiral down into a depression. And the narration in the end ment Ari felt bad for what he did, but he still wasn't going to change.

I don't know. I just feel it would have been better if it had endend on a happyer note ;)
