When with "Decline ... Part III" be released on DVD/video?

I've been trying to get an opportunity to watch this film, which I have never seen, and was perplexed to discover that it seems never to have been released on DVD or video. The two previous "Decline of Western Civilization" films are not so difficult to get access to, although this seems to be partly because of a proliferation of bootleg copies. Yet I'm not even sure if "Decline ... Part III" was released to cinemas in my country, Australia. Recently I read in an interview with director Penelope Spheeris that she now holds the rights to all three "Decline of Western Civilization" films and plans to release them as a set on DVD and VHS. Does anyone reading this have any information about when this is likely to happen? It seems to be a long time coming, despite the fact that these films have a dedicated, and perhaps growing, following.

When Penelope Spheeris was up here in Winnipeg shooting The Crooked E, a tv-movie about the Enron scandal, the local Cinematheque screened The Decline Of Western Civilization, Part III, with Penelope in attendance for a Q & A afterwards.

This was a rare theatrical screening for Part III, and the money was going to a local charity, which was a great idea.

During the Q & A, Penelope did say she was working on getting the trilogy released as a box set soon... I had the last question of the night, and asked if there would be extra footage and updates on the documentaries themselves included, and she said they were working on that as well.

She also said her boyfriend is one of the featured punks in Part III... that's when she met him, during the filming... cool!

Just like everyone else, I was just reading an article about her in the paper today. Would really like to watch this film. Hope it comes to DVD real soon. I like the first two a lot.

I knew most everyone that was in this film and was actually there when part of it was filmed. I have been waiting for this to be released FOREVER!!! I have heard that they are having problems with the rights to the music and that is what is holding up it's release.

Haha, I guess that depends on how you define being a "punk". The only few I've seen since the time of the film are absolutely different. The ones from that time(both in the film and not) who didn't change or move on in some way are dead. But that's the story of the original punk scene from the 70's as well I suppose.

I know it's not as good but a friend of mine just uploaded it to Tracker 3 so you folks can all download it for now until it comes out on dvd. Was this ever released on vhs by the way? And how about 1 and 2?
