Almost ten years later and still no DVD or VHS Tapes available, why is this? What in the world is going on with Rede Globo and Globo Television? I realize that things are done alot differently in Central and South American countries, but what about us fans stateside, who missed the first part of these programs and novelas, and have no way of 'back-tracking'? If we have the money to purchase the DVD's and VHS tapes, why can't they make this happen?

i love this opera sopa in my opinion is the best of brazil, violante is a fantastic villainous and xica is a very strong woman like the brazilians women.

I regret too, but in fact there's no DVD or VHS of Xica da Silva available yet.
In addition, I must to say to you that Globo Television wasn't the network which produced Xica da Silva.
Xica da Silva was produced in 1996 by another Brazilian TV, Rede Manchete. Manchete broken in 1999 and disappeared, unfortunetely.
Because of law affairs (there are many Justice process of former Manchete's employees vindicating their rights), many Manchete's soaps can't be sold, aired or turned into DVDs yet.
The good news are that Xica da Silva, in 2005, was aired again in Brazil, now by another TV, SBT, the channel that bought the rights to airing the soap last year.
Maybe the same could take place in your country and Xica's fans could watch it once more, until Xica finally be realeased on DVD.

I agree with everybody! I WANT TO BE ABLE TO BUY THE DVDs or even at least VHSs of anybody who might have taped it at home even with the commercials! Xica has got to be my favorite soap opera ever! Who ever comes out with the DVDs will definitely make a lot of money worldwide!

hello, i think they have them on mercadolibre.com, click on the Brazil icon and search for xica da silva. they have dvds, but don't know if they have subtitles.
