Rifftrax Live just ripped this one...

Just saw this at the theater along with 3 bizarre old Christmas shorts, live Rifftrax simulcast, the perfect movie for the MST3K guys to rip on - it was hilarious! ...I'd hate to see it in any other format ( shudder)! That was one weird piece of crap, love the little girl with the gorilla... on the beach.

Agree, though the first couple of shorts were kind of 'meh' but then they hit Santa's Village of Madness and the main show, and it was, well,

Huhh. Huhh. Huhh.

reply

I saw that myself. Something I just realized about it last night... the girl with the dog looked like a very young Fran Ryan. The boy with the "Keep On Truckin'" t-shirt looked like a pre-teen version of one of the kids from "Dazed & Confused." And that taller blonde girl with the glasses and the red shirt that stretches down to her ass looks like one of the kinds of girls I might've been interested in when I was a pre-teen.

Oh, woe is me to be born at the wrong time.

Absolutely 115% fully concur & otherwise agree. I'd never in my life heard of this, & that was definitely a Good Thing. If it weren't for being fodder for rifftrax this piece of dreck would have far less than zero redeeming merit whatsoever. Thank God for rifftrax!

Seriously, folks, I am NOT KIDDING. This thing makes Ed Wood look good, & yes, I am Totally Dead Serious. If you haven't seen it, count your blessings. To call this ... THING ... horrid is to be exceedingly kind to it. If it were possible to give this garbage less than one star I would. Preferably a negative.

reply

Hey, I tried to give this movie less than one star earlier this year. I didn't even know it existed until after I saw the 1959 version of Santa Claus on Rifftrax Live. I'm still looking for that thread.

FYI, I found no IMDb listing for "Custard the Dragon."

reply

I saw the Rifftrax version too... but this movie description talks about Santa telling the story of Thumbelina. In the Rifftrax version, Santa told the story of Jack and the beanstalk. Did they make two different versions?

reply

Yep, 2 different versions.

reply

RiffTrax has announced the release of their live riff of SATICB Jack and the Beanstalk version, but the release date has not been announced yet.

"Here you go, a mirror for your birthday!"
"You do know I'm blind, don't you?"

reply

They described the actor playing Jack as being like Barry Williams. I say he was more like Adam Lamberg.
