I can't believe I am the first to post about this, LOL!

I saw the movie when it originally debuted in 2000 and I was kind of disappointed. However I picked it up at Big Lots for 3 dollars and was mildly amused. It wasn't as bad as I remembered.

I would like to know what everybody else thought of this reunion movie...

Mary Richards was 37 when her and the WJM crew parted ways. she is 60 in this movie/pilot. there is no need to mention past co-workers. granted we all loved the original show. how many of you all keep in touch with co-workers from 20 years ago???? it's not realistic. that was Minnesota, this is New York. Lou and Sue Ann can't just pop in for a drink

I'm sure had it gone to series then they could have had guest stars visit from the old show. but it was never given a chance

the thing we all loved about Mary Richards on "The Mary Tyler Moore" show was MARY.

as long as she's that character, then I'm down to watch whatever she gets into

I think a Mary and Rhoda TV series based from this could have been fantastic, and it's a shame the studio missed a good chance at something great.

at least we get to see Mary, Valarie, Betty and Cloris together again on this season of Hot In Cleavland. it's a shame they couldn't play the MTM characters though. but neat regardless

I'm just sad it was only greenlit after the news of valerie's terminal cancer :-(

Actually, Mary was the straight woman at the centre of an ensemble cast of comedic characters. She was the nominal lead, but the bulk of the comedy and charm was in the characters around her. For a lot of people, it was everybody BUT Mary that they loved about the "Mary Tyler Moore Show".

No need to mention her co-workers because she's 60? You understand that this was a TV show right?

I agree with schfooge - The show was about the co-workers. Mary on her own was a fairly uninteresting character. Indeed the whole show was about being friends with a diverse set of people. Mary and Rhoda was written like a couple rich girls who never saw the show got together over tea and played let's pretend.
