Henry Winkler

His performance of the Engineer/IT guy was done very well.

Agreed. His character added a little humor where it could have been an exercise in frustration trying to get that system up and running under those emergency conditions. And, it was totally believable without his being a clown about it.

Totally believable? No way. No one would have let those conditions deteriorate to that degree. He should've reported what was going on to the FAA months earlier.

The technical aspects were silly too. The whole thing relies on a vacuum tube of which there are only two in existence? He's soldering individual wires? He also has to remove poultry from antennas on the airfield?

And there are steps he should've taken to prevent (or least delay) overheating. First thing you'd do is open the cabinet doors (duh), direct fans on the cabinets, power down everything non-critical and reduce the heat load - turn off the lights, open the room/building doors to get airflow from outside, etc.

Winkler was exceptional and Sutherland's role was good but the timing of his flashbacks seemed too predictable. The role of Cruise (aka Robert Sean Leonard) was spot on. I liked the movie because it offered a little bit of everything. It was listed as an action/adventure but it played more as a drama.
