Fight Club 2

if they made a movie of the forthcoming sequel comic series and brought back all the cast (Norton, Pitt, HBC, Leto) with Fincher directing. how much would it make? (I guess the budget could be relatively small 80-90m)

My guess is about at least 100m domestic and maybe the same overseas. (FC made 100m in 1999 - about 200m today?)

it'd probably be a similar type of deal to the likes of Tron, The Thing, Blade Runner, a film that didn't do that well initially but went on to become a cult classic and then they do another years later and it does ok. or maybe itd be like T2 where the original did ok was a cult hit but the sequel goes blockbuster large (FC is probably one of the most 'cult' movies there is with 'first rule is..' etc that's part of the culture so who knows how big a sequel would be)

anyway they making sequel to everything these days (even stuff youd never have thought like Blade Runner) so why not FC?

Creatively it would be an interesting challenge to make a sequel to that film.

The trailers would probably determine how well it would do, depends how the filmmakers approached it. Tyler being a type of martyr or mythical character returning to a run down and defeated crew might be interesting.

I really can't see a sequel in it. It wasn't a hit anyway despite receiving a cult following. From memory Rupert Murdoch didn't want this film made due to the anti-corporate/hierarchical message but it was hidden from him. And it was too late for him to stop it when he found out about it. I doubt the studio heads at Fox would pursue this film again considering it was reported Murdoch then Fox CEO Bill Mechanic relationship soured over it. Mechanic would eventually be let go.

Who says Fox has to make it? Would be hard to pull off because Narrator supposedly killed durden at the end and all of the main cast are old now. Hard to imagine some old farts going all anarchist and raising hell. However, I think some good writers could cobble together something worthwhile.

My guess is Fox own the rights to it. It would depend if they were willing to sell it. I still wouldn't want a sequel made either way. As I said I can't see a sequel in it, and the bar is set so high from the original. The chances it would be a huge let down that would harm both movies if they made one.
