Why did shooting himself in the mouth/head make Tyler go away? It's been a few years since I've seen last it so i missed something
the extreme act of attempted suicide got rid of Tyler because he made it clear that he'd rather neither of them live than both of them live, and that act expelled his second persona from his brain. This can happen to real people with dissociative identity disorder if they try but fail to kill themselves while they're assuming their alternate personality, because their alternate personality has been "killed" by their main personality.
