Very underated movie

I don't understand why this film has got such a low rating.I know it's not perfect but it has a charm and chemistry that appeals, the plot is clever and Connery and Zeta-Jones work well off each other - not to mention brilliant music.

It's also a mystery to me, cause this is a well written and more than well executed movie. I look at it as a sort of a modern and successful take on Hitchcock's "To catch a thief". What is always surprising to me, is this quite heavy dramatic tone, which Amiel's picture takes, which for me makes this movie a classic of the late 90's.

i used to think this movie was pretty good when i was younger (when i was in my 20's) but nowadays (i am 34 years old now, ill be 35 later this year) i can tell i don't enjoy it all that much as it's just average-ish for me now.

6/10 (maybe a 6.5) (Thumbs Down) , simply because i won't care to see it again at this point but it's probably one of those movie i could catch bits and pieces of it on TV in the future if nothing else was on and i wanted to pass some time.

so back in the day i would have agreed with the OP. but nowadays i would say it's 6.2/10 average is about right as it's not a bad movie but nothing special by any means.

p.s. i just finished re-watching it a moment ago and it fell into Thumbs Down status this time around as i re-watched it a fair amount over the years since it was new-ish but i can tell it's not a movie ill be re-watching again at this point.

I love this movie just rewatched it and enjoyed it just as much as I ever did. I wish it had a sequel so bad.

Stupefyingly pointless as is the whole concept of trying to comparatively rate the excellence of thousands of movies against each other with a single scale of numbers, this one is still somewhere in the high 8's for me. Far superior to The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, for example, which is an 8.9. On the other hand, nowhere near the masterpiece that Lawrence of Arabia (8.4) or The Third Man (8.3) are, but there you go; such overall comparisons are just silly.

Entrapment is very, very high for entertainment and for helplessly captivating female co-leads and one in a million male leads, but it's near zero for tackling heart-rending issues of transcendant morality (it doesn't try to be Schindler's List).

Best leave it just as OP did: it is incredibly, crazily underrated.
