Anyone notice Mac was almost 3 x older than Gin?

I'm not a squeamish man, I can handle just about anything, for some strange reason, seeing this gorgeous 30 year old woman kiss a 82 year old guy (that was there ages when they filed this) no matter how well he aged just seemed way a bit far fetched for me. Alas, not really the point, Connery fans are definitly going to disagree, or others will think I'm too old-fashioned or something. Anyway, just curious if anyone noticed that Connery is almost 3 times Jones' age - hell, he could have literally been her great grandfather.

Ah, right, that's my mistake. I must have figured Catherine's age with 1999 and Sean's as... well hell, I'm not sure how I got that number actually. Oh well, 2.3 x then. :)

Hollywood has a long tradition of matching attractive young ladies with men old enough to be their (grand)fathers - such as Grace Kelly and Gary Cooper in High Noon, and Randolph Scott in several of his later movies.

I know an unremarkable-looking guy who's 68 who's often kissed enthusiastically by women in their twenties and thirties.

She did marry a man 25 years older than herself, so it's not like Hollywood is that far from the norm.

He's James Bond for goodness sake!!

I don't love her.. She kicked me in the face!!

The main reason I like the film is the undoubted chemistry onscreen they do have together, differing ages notwithstanding. Hell, To Catch A Thief is one of my favourites and there was a somewhat similar age difference there.

Nothing gets by you eh?

A few things:

Connery was 68 when "Entrapment" was shot, not 82. Exaggerate much?

His character, Mac, was 60 in the movie.

Men are naturally attracted to younger women and Catherine Zeta-Jones was a full-fledged whoa-man at the time, about 30 years-old, not a freakin' teenager. Mac (Connery) may have been aged, but he was intelligent, witty, virile and very much young at heart. No wonder Gin (Zeta-Jones) was attracted to him.

Lastly, being attracted to someone isn't the same as wanting to marry them or even have sex with them. You can be naturally attracted to someone, but dismiss any further entanglement for numerous reasons -- you're married, s/he is too young, s/he is too old, you prefer being single, etc.
