bad, bad movie

it was so bad that it almost made me cry. never seen such a bad performance from either tim robbins nor jeff bridges before. casting was ridiculous anyway. also plot was awful, pointless and full of holes. i'm aware of the term "suspension of disbelief" but that didn't help. from start to end i expected to see some meaningful correlation, a satirical variation, some good point leastways. instead, director chooses to apply reverse psychology - at one point. here you go, that's it. just because a movie tries to break "a" hollywood rule doesn't make it good. you need far more than that. but now at least i appreciate more to real ground breaking movies. eh, you don't need to watch this to do that, just an advice.

Thanks for stopping by.

I respectfully disagree with you... by about 110%.

Doom nypz is absolutely CORRECT. STUPIDEST FREAKING FILM IN FREAKING HISTORY. Okay I exaggertae. I just watched this today. This film is freaking stupid and soo far fetched. BTW the big suprise ending. I saw it a mile away. To think that they could manipulate the ending the way they did is beyond comprehension. Never explained how Bridges GF just happened to be the car garage at the exact time to see what she saw. WHEN she had no contact with Robbins character outside of being at the home. Bridges character is the worst sneak as everytime he comes across something suspicious in his investigation. The character he is investigating just happens to walk in on him. IF you think this was a well thought out plot and a good film DOOM. Then you are one of those conspiracy theorists who buys into all the conspiracy garbage. The fcat the plot is what it is makes you believe the film is good.

If you think I am an anti conspiracy person. You are wrong as Warren Beatty's PARALLAX VIEW puts this film to freaking shame. You want to see a good conspiracy film? Watch Beatty's film above or watch Oliver Stone's JFK. I also agree DOOM Robbins and Bridges looked like they knew the script sux and mailed in there over the top performances

Oh BTW DOOM thank you for stopping by as I disrespectfully disagree with you by about 110%.

BTW just to prove this film suxed. It was not a commercial success. More importantly look at Mark Pellington's resume. NOT VERY IMPRESSIVE!

"BTW just to prove this film suxed. It was not a commercial success."

Right, because hit movies are ALWAYS good movies.

I'm happiest...in the saddle.

There have been plenty of "great" movies which I hated and plenty of unrecognized or critically "thumbed down" movies which I loved. The difference between people like you and I is that I don't listen to the critics, thus, I am not part of the sheep herd following their advice.

I also wonder why so many people who do not like a particular movie feel so strongly compelled to rant all over about it as if their very lives depend on convincing everyone they hold the only correct opinion of... a movie.

reply

Your mindlessly exaggerated rant suxed, tjirish34. By 110%.

reply

suxed? you're an idiot

reply

I agree with you!...and I like the way you said that :-D

reply

in terms of good or bad, yes the movie is bad, but jeff bridges is funny enough to make me watch it. some of the faces he makes in that movie rival jim carrey. and once again, it is a very bad movie, and anyone who disagrees (including these two mongoloids above me) is wrong.

reply

Totally on board. The way they tried to dramatize that laughable script is to die for. This film is the epitome of great bad movie-making.

reply

mongoloids? you're an idiot too

reply

Sorry man, but you are way off base. This was a fantastic movie.

ok, it's an opinion. it's fine. but why? as i said, there are some reasons why i found this movie distasteful. why don't you give me some clues about what makes this movie special?

reply

This movie was great, there's a few minor weak parts, but only when considering the strength of the film overall....The plot is absolutely brilliant....You're either an idiot or a troll, but most likely you're both.

reply

So is Roger Ebert a troll? He didn't like the film either.

Auden Thornton as the strange (disturbed?) older daughter of Tim Robbins and Joan Cusack was TERRIFICALLY weird and scary. Nice job!

Very insightful Auden.

the plot arch was kind of weak especially towards the end of the film but its got great cinematography and a creepy atmosphere, it just uses way to many old tricks that dont leave much to the imagination.

Its really not the best thriller but its above the rest, also very well directed

bad bad thread, so bad that it almost made me laugh.

Bad, OP, Bad! No, No, No! (Hits OP on the nose with newspaper)

reply

Not the best thriller..... But the plot and Performances were good...

You are clearly one of those idiots who thinks the Hangover II is quality cinema. If you're going to watch a stone cold classic and call it a terrible movie you have no reason for anyone to listen to you. How about naming an actual reason why this movie is bad besides the obvious fact that you didn't understand it. I hear Michael Bay has a new movie coming out I'm sure you'll be thrilled with it. Idiot.
